lyrics

Once our sons would walk the graveyard
And thanks to all his brothers' stories
Tim the youngest swore he'd seen an eye
In the grass

When our neighbors lost their boy
We saw how dark the river was
We lied and said down stream they might find
Riversnakes, the riversnakes
We'd go swimming, if not for the riversnakes, the riversnakes
When we were in the garden, they would swim.

Tim called in the frigid morning
To say that he'd been praying in secret,
We were sure he'd n'er come home again
We were sure - we were sure

Later, Tim took off his clothes
And dove into the rapid currents
And each time he submerged we thought
He n'er come up, he'd n'er come up.
He swam until his skin was blue
We didn't know what we should do
When he got out we all went back for lunch!
